My Journey Into Art

Out Of This World

Since I am unable to undertake a big canvas painting or an intricate watercolor right now, I have resorted to working small and portable. That means I'm working in my art journal and small paper. I saw this tutorial on Thaneeya McArdle's site after she posted her completed work at her community site; The Art Colony of which I'm a member of. My version is a very small scale of 4" x 6". I think working bigger would provide better results because I felt limited by the small space. It was fun though. Give it a try. Her tutorial is very easy and simple to follow step by step.

  1. OH! I love this! I have masking fluid (two bottles!) and am fascinated with the resist techniques but RARELY use them. I have also found that white colored pencils (non-watercolor), white crayons (non-watercolor- Crayola is great!), or those clear wax pencils that people use to blend colored pencils work great as resist too. I wish there were a better way to do stamp resist besides embossing.

  2. I've tried the white crayon technique before too. I think I prefer the masking fluid because I have a tiny applicator on mine and it allows for great control. You lost me on the stamping and embossing. That is beyond my scope. I've never tried embossing. ;)
