Birds
I've been really enjoying the backyard. I sit out on the deck pretty much every morning after everyone is off to work and school. I drink my coffee and have breakfast out there. It's so peaceful. I enjoy listening to the birds. Since the house backs up to a greenbelt I get to hear and see lots of them. I've noticed a lot of blue jays and mourning doves. And there is a small bird that has a song that sounds like it is singing "cheater, cheater". it makes me chuckle. At dusk, the deer come out. I sit outside after my boys go to bed and relax for 15 minutes or so. I stay very quiet to not spook them. They come right up to the fence line and graze. They usually come in groups of 3 to 6 deer at a time.
This painting was inspired by all the birds I'm noticing. I'm not sure that it is done yet. I'm going to let it sit for a few days and decide if it needs something more. I'm not sure if I want to add features to the birds like I did with the Funky Cat. Maybe they are fine as they are. Thoughts?

Stephanie this is so wonderful. I love the colors, texture, and the adorable birds. As for adding more? You were smart to hold back and let these birds "sing to you." I like them as is, but I can't wait to see what you decide.
ReplyDeleteLucky you to be surrounded by all the wildlife.
ditto
DeleteThank you... I think I will be leaving them as they are. There's a simplicity to them that I like.
Deletei love your painting just as it is
ReplyDeletebut then i like spaciousness, and that's what i feel within it
Kel: Thank you for you feedback. The more I look at it, the more I feel like it's done.
DeleteThat. Is. Gorgeous. It just *sings*. I love it so much, I love the way you brought the birds out from behind, if that makes any sense. I love the simple shapes and the way they play with the complicated color forms. I really love it!
